Pregnancy Exercises

Pregnancy YOGA

My favorite exercise or better I better say my favourite way of keeping fit and healthy has always been Yoga.

I started practising while I was still living in Brazil and I was quite lucky to become friends to an amazing Yoga teacher as soon as I moved to London.

When I fell pregnant my first thought was: I must keep doing Yoga! So I decided to find a teacher of Pregnancy Yoga as at my local gym the Yoga teacher wasn’t qualified to teach pregnant women.

After a bit of research a found a website called Birthlight where you can search a local teacher just by putting your post code.

I called the teacher straight away. I was  about 12 weeks pregnant and she told me I could start from 14 weeks. The classes are once a week and last 2 hours and it’s worth every minute of it.

My teacher, Julie Krausz, is  not only a Yoga teacher but is originally trained as an Active Birth Teacher and have been teaching Pre-and Post-Natal yoga and Birth Preparation Courses for 15 years.

The classes are very good, very relaxing and very reassuring in a way. You are amongst other 7 or 8 women that are going through the same experiences that you are and Julie is amazing when it comes to giving advice and support.

At the end of each session, after the relaxation part, we all have tea and biscuits and discuss our fears and worries and share experiences.

I recommend Yoga to every one, specially if you’re thinking in having a natural birth. The breathing exercises are essential when it comes to self control and will definitely help you cope better with the pain.
